Clinical Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis.  The human mind can be likened to a computer.  Using hypnotherapy the unconscious mind can be accessed and the programme read and selectively re-programmed.  The unconscious mind regulates autonomic processes, contains memories, and is the seat of emotions and behaviour.

POSTHYPNOTIC SUGGESTIONS

Therapeutic suggestions are communicated to the client in hypnosis.   Suggestion hypnotherapy is effective because hypnosis enables the unconscious mind to absorb the beneficial suggestions and thoughts.

REGRESSION AND ANALYTICAL HYPNOTHERAPY

Problems in the present often have their roots in past experiences.  Hypnosis facilitates understanding the root cause of problems.  The emotional effects of significant memories are released to aid rapid desensitisation of original negative experiences.  Clients gain greater self-awareness and new insights.

FUTURE PROGRESSION

Mental imagery is used to enhance mental and physical changes.  A sensory experience of a new behaviour can be encoded in the client’s unconscious mind.

ERICKSONIAN HYPNOTHERAPY

Milton Erickson was the leading authority on hypnotherapy in recent times.  He developed new approaches that are effective using light trance.  He believed that unconscious and conscious learnings together create changes.  Ericksonian hypnotherapy requires techniques to be individually tailored to the client’s issues, personality and abilities.  This requires more extensive training and experience than is needed by hypnotherapists who only use standard traditional approaches.

COGNITIVE-BEHAVIOURAL HYPNOTHERAPY

Concepts and techniques from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) are used with hypnosis.

Pauline uses a mix of traditional and Ericksonian hypnotherapy with NLP, Counselling, Psychotherapy and other related therapies.
