NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING (NLP)
NLP is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Neuro refers to the brain, our neurology, or nervous system that links our body and mind, through which our experience is processed through our five senses. Linguistics refers to the language we use, including non-verbal and self-communication. The way we perceive life is coded through language. Programming refers to the ability to discover, utilise and change the “programmes” or repeated sequences of thoughts and behaviours that run our lives.
NLP is often referred to as the “software for the brain”. Changing our mental programmes leads to positive changes in how we think, feel, act and live. Changing how and what we think changes feelings.
NLP was created in USA in the late 1970s and continually developing. It is based largely on the techniques used by some of the world’s most successful therapists, particularly the hypnotherapist Milton Erickson. Hypnosis and NLP together seem to promote particularly fast and effective change.
Pauline began her training and practice of NLP in 1986. It was then very new in the UK. She trained with one of the original creators of NLP and is a Master Practitioner, the highest level.
NLP was created many powerful psychotherapy techniques but its use is not restricted to psychotherapy. NLP is now also used in BUSINESS, EDUCATION AND SPORTS TRAININGS. |
